The invention relates to a photocatalytic process for production of hydrogen (28) and for recovery of solid sulphur (48) from hydrogen sulphide gas (6) in the presence of a light source which emits in the ultraviolet and/or visible spectrum (22). The process enables continuous operation and comprises the bringing into contact of a gas charge comprising hydrogen sulphide (6) with a basic aqueous solution (8) in a zone of heat exchangers comprising at least two exchangers (2) and (4) arranged in parallel and operating alternately, a gas/liquid separation (12), a photocatalytic step making it possible to form hydrogen and polysulphides (20), a gas/liquid separation (26) making it possible to recover the hydrogen (28), and the recycling of the polysulphides (30) in the operating heat exchanger (2) in order to cause said polysulphides to precipitate in the form of sulphur. The process is also aimed at recovering the sulphur in solid form (48). |
