Disclosed are an avatar display terminal and a method for operating the avatar display terminal, which can satisfy user needs for phone decoration. The avatar display terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an identification unit for identifying an acquaintance terminal associated with a selected event by interlocking with the occurrence of the event; a reading unit for reading, from an avatar list, an acquaintance avatar registered for the identified acquaintance terminal; and a display unit for displaying the read acquaintance avatar on a screen during the occurrence of the event. |
