PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to determine that the state where a stirring and conveying member which stirs and conveys toner in a housing container of toner is overloaded is caused by uneven stagnation of toner or abnormality of an apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a housing container having a toner supply port to a development unit on a one end part; a stirring and conveying member which conveys toner to a supply port while stirring the toner; a rotary drive part which drives to rotate the stirring and conveying member; a current detection part which detects a driving current; an overload detection part which, in the case where the driving current is within a range of overcurrent being a current exceeding a predetermined boundary, detects that the stirring and conveying member is in an overload state; an unevenness determination part which determines whether or not toner is unevenly stagnated in one end part or the other end part of housing container; and a cause determination part which, when an overload state of the stirring and conveying member is detected and it is determined that toner is in the state of being unevenly stagnated in one end part or the other end part, determines that a cause of overload is uneven stagnation of toner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
