PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader capable of reducing the installation load of a user and highly accurately reading a code applied to various work-pieces.SOLUTION: A polarized illumination light source includes light-emitting elements 26 and 27 irradiating a work-piece with illumination light through a polarization filter 91. A non-polarized illumination light source includes light-emitting elements 28 and 29 irradiating the work-piece with the illumination light without through the polarization filter. An imaging element includes a polarization filter 92 having a polarization direction different from the polarization direction of the polarization filter 91 of the light-emitting elements 26 and 27.
