1. A computer-implemented method for automatically detecting a need for a ripping pass to be performed by a machine along a work surface, comprising:
periodically receiving from the machine one or more machine parameters, and one or more profile parameters of the work surface, with a communication device of a control system; monitoring with a controller of the control system the machine parameters and profile parameters; determining with the controller whether one or more predefined trigger conditions suggestive of the need for the ripping pass are met based, at least in part, on the machine parameters and the profile parameters; and generating with the controller, and transmitting to the machine with the communication device, a ripping pass request if one or more of the trigger conditions are satisfied; and wherein the ripping pass request, when received by the machine, causes the machine to perform a ripping pass. |
