A method is disclosed for preparing zeolite SSZ-52 using a computationally predicted organic structure directing agent. The computationally predicted structure organic directing agent is an organic structure directing agent other than an N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation, and the difference in stabilization energy between the organic structure directing agent other than an N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation and the N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation is no more than 2.5 kJ mol−1 Si. |

1. A method for preparing zeolite SSZ-52, comprising:
(a) preparing a reaction mixture containing:
(1) at least one source of silicon;(2) one or more sources of one or more oxides selected from the group consisting of oxides of trivalent elements, pentavalent elements, and mixtures thereof;(3) at least one source of an element selected from Groups 1 and 2 of the Periodic Table;(4) an organic structure directing agent other than an N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation, and the difference in stabilization energy between the organic structure directing agent other than an N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation and the N,N-diethyl-5,8-dimethyl-azonium bicyclo[3.2.2.]nonane cation is no more than 2.5 kJ mol−1 Si;(5) hydroxide ions; and(6) water; and (b) subjecting the reaction mixture to crystallization conditions sufficient to form crystals of the zeolite. |
