Aspects of the present disclosure are related to a method for facilitating searching. The method comprises displaying an interactive tree on a graphical user interface (GUI). The tree is formed from a classification of metadata associated with items, and includes one or more value nodes, value ranges, attribute nodes, sub-attribute nodes, sub-group nodes, and group nodes. The method further includes detecting user selection of one or more nodes of the interactive tree, each selected node including one state from a set of states comprising at least two of optional, required and excluded states, and converting the selected nodes into a Boolean search string based on the corresponding states of the selected nodes. Moreover, the method provides the Boolean search string to a search engine to retrieve search results from the items; and displays the search results on the GUI. |
