PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte lithium ion secondary battery superior in high-temperature and low-temperature characteristics.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery and battery pack comprises: a positive electrode including a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material capable of occluding and releasing lithium at no lower than 0.4 V vs. Li/Li; and a nonaqueous electrolyte dissolved in a nonaqueous solvent including γ-butyrolactones with a carbon hydride group substituted at an α position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
