PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material superior in cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material comprises: particles including a lithium complex oxide; a first layer provided on the surface of each particle and including a lithium complex oxide; and a second layer provided on the surface of the first layer. The lithium complex oxide included in the particles is identical or substantially identical to the lithium complex oxide included in the first layer in composition. The second layer includes an oxide or fluoride. The lithium complex oxide included in the first layer is lower, in crystallinity, than the lithium complex oxide included in the particles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
