a plurality of nodes each including a packet processor that processes a packet in accordance with a packet handling operation(s) when said packet is received; said packet handling operation(s) correlating a processing to be applied to said packet with a matching rule that identifies the packet to which the processing is to be applied; and a control device that calculates a packet forwarding path in response to a request to set the packet handling operation from any one of the nodes; said control device setting a plurality of said packet handling operations that implement said packet forwarding path for the node(s) on said packet forwarding path and recording said packet handling operations in correlation with one another; said control device inquiring at said node(s) on said packet forwarding path about a setting state(s) of said packet handling operation(s); said control device carrying out, in case a failure is detected in the packet handling operation(s) set in at least one of the nodes on said packet forwarding path, a rollback operation of the correlated packet handling operations set in other node(s) on said packet forwarding path.
