The present invention relates to an image providing apparatus, and an operation method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the image providing apparatus comprises: a broadcasting reception unit for receiving a broadcasting signal; an interface unit for receiving broadcasting preview information including a thumbnail image from a server; and a control unit for providing a broadcasting image based on the received broadcasting signal, providing the thumbnail image related to the received broadcasting preview information, providing a broadcasting preview image corresponding to the thumbnail image when the thumbnail image is selected, and playing and providing the broadcasting preview image when a play input for the broadcasting preview image exists. Accordingly, a user can view a broadcasting preview.
