2-STEP FDOA/FDOA ESTIMATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

The present invention relates to a signal source localization technique, and more specifically to a method and an apparatus for estimating time difference of arrival (TDOA) and/or frequency difference of arrival (FDOA) from a small amount of signals received by considering transmission efficiencies at two receiver stages. A two-step TDOA/FDOA estimation method of the present invention comprises: (a) a step of receiving a plurality of reception signals, which are communication signals, using an antenna; (b) a step of setting an initial estimated value of TDOA and FDOA using characteristics of the plurality of reception signals; (c) a step of outputting a first step estimated value of TDOA and FDOA information using the initial estimated value and the plurality of reception signals; (d) a step of performing interpolation on the plurality of reception signals; and (e) a step of outputting a second step estimated value of TDOA and FDOA information using the interpolation-performed plurality of reception signals and the first step estimated value of TDOA and FDOA information.
