The present invention relates to a method for processing image data and an electronic device supporting the same. The electronic device may recognize data formed by non-standardized letters or handwriting as a unicode text or a stroke. The method for processing image data comprises the following operations: dividing image data into at least one segment according to at least a part of characteristics of the image data; determining a category corresponding to the segment; and displaying the segment as a converted form based on the category. In addition, other various embodiments are also possible.
