PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light source device with a simple configuration preventing a semiconductor light-emitting element from being short-circuited and becoming nonfunctional and capable of brightly emitting light by highly efficiently cooling the semiconductor light-emitting element, and to provide a projector including the semiconductor light source device.SOLUTION: A projector according to the present invention includes a light source unit having a semiconductor light source device, a display element, projector control means, and the like. The semiconductor light source device includes: a heat transfer sheet 122; a semiconductor light-emitting element disposed on one surface of the heat transfer sheet 122; an insulation sheet 123 disposed on a peripheral backside of the semiconductor light-emitting element; and a heat sink 130.
