PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transportation device and an image forming apparatus, capable of detecting to which side, among one side and the other side in width direction a sheet is biased when the sheet is transported while being biased in width direction.SOLUTION: Since a first abutment part 47 and a second abutment part 59 are positioned at the same location in transportation direction, a sheet S which is transported, not in oblique manner, along a transportation route abuts with the first abutment part 47 and the second abutment time 59 at the same time. As the sheet S is further transported, the first abutment part 47 and the second abutment part 59 rotate around a first rotational axis 46 and a second rotational axis 58 respectively.
