The device has a manipulation button (14) linked to a guide (4), and a table (6) linking a support (5) to the guide. Carriages of the table and body (15) of the support are associated to optical coders (21, 22) that measure displacement of the carriages in their respective directions. A processing unit (7) comprises of a memory (25) that stores measured displacement on activating a control button (28). An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring profile of a piece.
