Disclosed are an apparatus for checking the state of a sheath heater and a method thereof. The present invention comprises: a sheath heater for providing products such as a dishwasher with heat; a first relay and a second relay as a switching element for outputting operating signals to the heater; a micro controller unit (MCU) for controlling a first relay and a second relay; and a resistance of which one terminal is connected with a normally closed terminal NC of the second relay and another terminal is connected with the MCU. Additionally, the MCU monitors the resistance value of the resistance while the sheath heater is not being operated, thereby checking if there is a malfunction such as disconnection or short in the sheath heater. |
