A method of determining control parameters of a retinal treatment system comprising: acquiring an image of a subject's eye using an imaging laser and an optical system of the system; presenting a retina image to a system user; receiving from the user data locating at least one retina treatment site and a required light pattern for the treatment site; using the location data to determine a location control parameter for causing the optical-system to direct treatment laser light from the system to the treatment site; and determining a pattern control parameter from the light pattern for producing a laser light pattern that is delivered to the treatment site via the optical-system. The method may further comprise: receiving a description of distortion of the retina image and using it to present a corrected retina image; and receiving from the user, data locating at least one treatment site of the corrected image and using the distortion-description and location data to determine a location control parameter to direct treatment laser light from the system to the treatment site and using the required light pattern to determine a pattern control parameter to produce a laser light pattern.
