[Also in Group XXXIII] A pack 6 containing an inflatable raft, life-belt or body harness &c. is ejected into the sea when desired by an opensided carrier 5 which' is allowed through a quick release 9 to swing about a pivot 8 mounted at one end of a boom 19 which is pivoted at its other end to a structure on a ship, a pier, a sea wall or an aircraft. More than one pack may be held by the carrier which may consist of a platform and a back-rest, with or without end retaining walls. Alternatively, the carrier may have hinged sides which open out for pack ejection. The boom 19 may be mounted on a horizontal pivot for movement in a vertical plane from an inboard to an outboard position. Where the pack comprises an inflatable raft requiring a line for raft release and/or inflation, or otherwise where a line is required between raft and the boom, the line may be attached to the carrier or the boom. |
