A device 100 for displacing prolapsed tissue when using a speculum (65, Fig 4) (for example a bivalved vaginal speculum) comprises (i) a distal tip for displacing the obstructing tissue as the device is inserted through an aperture in the speculum when it is in position within a body and (ii) a proximal aperture 120 permitting physical access to the interior of the body while the displacer is in position within the speculum. In a first embodiment the device may comprises a hollow, tubular sheath (15, Fig 4) with a removable insert (20, Fig 4) that displaces obstructing tissue. In a second embodiment the device may comprise two pivoting halves 105a, 105b which utilise a scissor action to displace tissue. |
