The device (1) has a ring resonator (2), and a multi-mode interference coupler (3) including an input (4), an output (5) and a multi-mode waveguide connecting the input to the output. The input and the output serve as input and output of the device to receive an input optical signal and produce an output optical signal, respectively. The resonator is placed to connect another output to another input of the coupler. An electrode (6) locally modifies refraction index in a coupling zone of the waveguide to vary coupling coefficient between the coupler and the resonator.
