A magnet management method (100) controls a ferrite permanent magnet electrical machine, and comprises: a step (110) of receiving and/or estimating a temperature of a permanent magnet; a step (112) of determining whether the temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature; a step (114) of selectively heating the magnet to prevent demagnetization if the temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature; and/or a step (116) of decreasing a rated output of the machine. A similar method (200) provides a step of analyzing magnetic flux or a magnetization level to control the magnetization level. A controller using various methods is disclosed. The present invention describes specific embodiments. Equivalents, alternative examples, and modified examples which are not described in the patent specification are possible and included in the scope of the present invention. |
