A card type smart key according to the present invention includes: a touch sensing part for sensing a touch operation of a user as to a front of a cover; a grip sensing part for sensing a grip operation of the user as to a side of the cover; and a power control part which controls to sense the grip operation by supplying a stand-by power to the grip sensing part in a sleep mode, and controls to supply electricity to the touch sensing part in case the grip operation is sensed by the grip sensing part. The card type smart key can reduce power consumption.
