The present invention relates to a mobile terminal, capable of sensing an obstacle placed ahead. The terminal includes: a display part displaying an operation screen; a laser sensor emitting a laser beam to sense an obstacle on a route; and a control part activating the laser sensor when detecting a preset event, measuring a distance from the obstacle through the activated laser sensor, and displaying obstacle warning information on the display part if the measured distance is within a threshold distance.
