The decorative plate 10 has a hole 12 large enough to allow a latch to pass through; a side wall 13 around the perimeter with a flange 14 extending outwards at the top edge which conceals the edge of the recess in the door when mounted either as part of a strike plate or latch. The plate length may be two to three times that of the width, the plate ends may be semi-circular with screw holes in the centre. The aperture is preferably located in the centre of the plate, is circular with a diameter equal to the plate width. When used with a strike plate there may also be a second plate between the decorative plate and the strike plate with screw guide holes, the strike plate may also have tabs which are inserted into the second plate. The latch and strike plates may have screw concealing covers glued on. The latch may be a magnetic bolt which is biased to a retracted position. |
