A coating material application system, comprising a manual powder coating material spray gun (10) with a handgrip portion (16) in the form of a handle (18) and a barrel portion (14) and a spray nozzle portion (12) comprising an electrode assembly (54) that is connectable to a high voltage supply (56) to electrostatically charge powder coating material, a display (100) that is installed on a back end of said barrel portion (14) so as to be easily visible by the operator while the operator is using the spray gun (10), a display controller (110) contained within said spray gun (10) which operates said display (100), a supply of powder coating material, a main controller (114) which controls one of more parameters associated with said powder coating operation of said spray gun (10), and a communication link (112) between said display controller (110) and said main controller (114). |
