PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine for a vehicle that is efficiently enhanced in protection strength.SOLUTION: A rotating electric machine for a vehicle comprises: a rotating electric machine casing to be arranged inside in a vehicle width direction of a side member as a vehicle body skeleton constituting member provided along a vehicle longitudinal direction; and a protecting member 7 that is mounted on an opposing surface opposing to the side member of the rotating electric machine casing and protects a region opposing to the side member of the rotating electric machine casing from the side member. The protecting member 7 has a protection portion 71 that is separated from an outer surface of a cover 63 forming the opposing surface of the rotating electric machine casing at the region opposing to the side member of the rotating electric machine casing, a positioning protruded portion 63D of the protecting member 7 to be provided in the rotating electric machine casing is positioned at the region opposing to the side member, and the protecting member 7 has a hole 71B through which a head portion of the positioning protruded portion 63D is inserted in the protection portion 71. |
