To effectively manage a memory between components, the present invention relates to a mobile terminal which automatically performs the installation and removal of an application corresponding to a module when the module is attached/detached, and a method for controlling the same. Particularly, the present invention relates to a mobile terminal of a modulus type for attaching/detaching at least one module. The mobile terminal includes a touch module, a sensing module for detecting whether the at least one module is attached/detached, and a control module which controls the touch module to output an application list suitable for the installed first module when the attachment of the first module is sensed.
