The present invention relates to a wireless power transmission device and a wireless power transmission method. The wireless power transmission device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: multiple transmission coil units which wirelessly transmit power to a wireless power reception device; a communication unit which communicates with the wireless power reception device; a power supply unit which is selectively connected to the multiple transmission coil units and supplies power thereto; and a control unit which controls the power supply unit to make the multiple transmission coil units sequentially perform waiting operations, compares power transmission efficiency of the transmission coil unit which performs the waiting operation with the power transmission efficiency of the adjacent transmission coil unit at the time point when the communication unit receives a response signal of the wireless power reception device, and controls the power supply unit to transmit power by using the selected transmission coil unit.
