A down hole processing apparatus 44 for controlling a down hole tool 100, the apparatus comprising a processor 202 adapted to perform first and second timing operations, the first timer associated with a first down hole sensor 60 capable of receiving a signal from a first transmission mechanism 62, the second timer associated with a second down hole sensor 213 capable of receiving a signal from a second transmission mechanism 210, respective first and second timing operations, with data storage for data received from first & second sensors, the down hole processor being adapted to check the storage at least once during the first and second timing operations and act on this data to control the tool if so instructed. The control device may have a constant or intermittent power source, battery, or a motor 214. It may also communicate or transmit via mud pulse telemetry, from pressure transducer or via Radio Frequency Identification, RFID, through an RFID antenna or other wireless EM means. A method for controlling a down hole processing apparatus is also claimed. |
