Provided is a method for producing water repellent starch, which includes a step of forming an extrudate by extruding a mixture composed of starch and siliconate, wherein the content of siliconate in the mixture is 2.5-50 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of starch. The production method of the present invention is suitable to mass-produce water repellent starch in an industrial scale. Further, the water repellent starch produced by the production method can be used as a diluting agent for baby powder, a coating agent on a surface of wallpaper, a filler used in a foam mat, and a material used in powder for preventing rear ink smears in a printing process. |
