PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sand collection device and a sand collection method, for a wastewater sand basin, which enable sand collection to be efficiently performed under low pressure with low energy consumption even in a normal flow condition.SOLUTION: A plurality of sand basins are arranged in parallel along a flow direction of wastewater. Each sand basin has a sand collection pit 20 on a bottom surface. To execute sand collection through a low pressure sand collection method while continuously maintaining a wastewater flow, the sand basins have: entrance gates 12 at respective inflow sides capable of individually blocking inflows of the wastewater into the sand basins 10; and exit gates 14 at respective outflow sides to separate the sand basin where sand is being collected from another sand basin where wastewater flows through. When a flow rate is low such as at nighttime, sand collection is performed in a manner that: closes the entrance gate 12 and the exit gate 14 of only one sand basin 10; collects sedimentary sand accumulated in the sand basin 10 into the sand collection pit 20 with water sprayed through nozzles 26; and discharges the collected sand with a sand lifting pump 32. |
