The present invention relates to an electrolyte with improved thermal stability and durability. The electrolyte comprises: 1.88 to 2.65 wt% of iodine; 12.23 to 14.50 wt% of an imidazolium iodide salt as iodine-based ionic liquid; 4.42 to 5.44 wt% of benzimidazole or a benzimidazole-based compound; and 77.41 to 81.46 wt% of an organic solvent, wherein the organic solvent comprises both iodine-based ionic liquid having a boiling point of 135°C to 250°C and iodine.
