<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a configuration suitable for utilizing a high performance photometric sensor having a large number of pixels effectively for focus control. <P>SOLUTION: Ab imaging apparatus comprises photometric means (32) for metering a subject field of an imaging optical system, focus detection means (15) for detecting the focus state of the imaging optical system for a plurality of positions of the subject field, a scene analysis means (40c) for repeating scene analysis of a subject in the subject field based on the output from the photometric means, a focus operation means (50b) for repeating a focus operation for generating the defocus signal of the imaging optical system based on the output from the scene analysis means and the output from the focus detection means, and period switching means (24) for switching the repetition speed of the scene analysis depending on the operation content of the focus operation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
