The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling a cooling fan for a vehicle, and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for controlling a cooling fan for a vehicle, preventing damage to the cooling fan and a motor, caused by a fire in intense cold. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for controlling the cooling fan for the vehicle comprises: a cooling fan; a blower assembly; a connector; a vehicle controller; and a relay. The cooling fan is installed on an engine room of the vehicle. The blower assembly includes the motor driving the cooling fan and a register controlling the speed of the motor. The connector is connected to the blower assembly. The vehicle controller generates a control signal to control the cooling fan. The relay receives the control signal and provides the control signal to the connector. The vehicle controller is able to generate a high speed control signal and transmit the high speed control signal to the relay to drive the motor at a high speed depending on the pressure of an air conditioner and the temperature of the cooling water in a case where the outer temperature of the vehicle is less than a set temperature. |
