The present invention relates to a novel plantain mottle virus gene found in plantain. More specifically, the present invention relates to a plantain mottle virus gene comprising a base sequence represented by sequence number 1, a recombinant vector comprising the plantain mottle virus gene, and a host cell transformed by the recombinant vector. The plantain mottle virus gene can contribute to the distribution of disease-free host plants including plantain, and also to quality improvement.
