PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect a position of a subject in a photographed image.SOLUTION: A set of coordinate points 108 is obtained by plotting each pixel of a depth image 106 in a three-dimensional space by inverse projection transformation. The three-dimensional space is divided by a plurality of faces 110a-110h vertical to a gravity vector g to generate slice spaces A0-A6. A value obtained by weighting and summing up coordinate points belonging to each slice space is defined as a score of the slice space and threshold determination is performed. A slice space including an object which constitutes a horizontal plane such as a table is thereby extracted and the position of the horizontal plane is specified.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
