PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having an intermediate transfer body that has flexibility and excellent toner releasing property, suppresses occurrence of irregular density or white voids in an image, and shows excellent transfer property to a sheet having a rough surface property.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier on which a latent image can be formed and a toner image can be carried; developing means that develops the latent image with a toner; an intermediate transfer body to which the toner image is primarily transferred; transfer means that secondarily transfers the toner image on the intermediate transfer body onto a recording medium; and lubricant supply means that supplies a lubricant to an upper surface of the intermediate transfer body. The intermediate transfer body has a layered structure comprising at least a base layer and a surface layer. The surface layer contains a crosslinked body of polyrotaxane having at least cyclic molecules, linear molecules including the cyclic molecules in a skewered state, and blocking groups disposed at both terminals of the linear molecule to prevent the cyclic molecules from detaching. The lubricant comprises a mixture of zinc stearate and zinc palmitate, or calcium stearate, and the lubricant adheres to the surface of the surface layer of the intermediate transfer body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
