PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoist including a brake operation detection device which achieves downsizing.SOLUTION: A hoist has: an electric motor which drives lifting and lowering of a cargo; and a brake device which puts a brake on the electric motor. The hoist includes a brake operation detection part which detects operation of the brake device. The brake device includes: a brake member which puts the brake on rotation of the electric motor; and a brake member driving part which drives the brake member.
