PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic material having excellent magnetic characteristics; and provide a manufacturing method of the magnetic material.SOLUTION: Provided is a magnetic material containing rare-earth RE and Fe, which includes a crystalline phase including a soft magnetic phase composed of at least one of an FeN phase and an Fe phase, and a ferromagnetic phase composed of a REFeN(x=0.5-3) phase. Provided is a manufacturing method of a magnetic material containing rare-earth RE and Fe, which includes a preparation process of preparing a REFealloy including an amorphous REFephase or a crystalline REFephase with an average crystal grain diameter of 50 nm or less; and a nitriding process of performing a nitriding treatment on the REFealloy by heating the REFealloy in an N-containing atmosphere while applying a magnetic field of over 1T.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
