A method for generating implicit topographic data and an electronic device for performing the same method relate to a method for generating implicit topographic data and an electronic device which can minimize a size of data while maintaining a geographic quality from original topographic data. The method for generating implicit topographic data comprises the following steps: organizing implicit topographic data from original topographic data; compressing the implicit topographic data without any loss; reorganizing the lossless compressed implicit topographic data; and compressing the reorganized implicit topographic data with a loss.
