PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter and a receiver for which a device corresponding to an existing transmission rate can be diverted while preventing the number of signal waves to be superposed on one transmission line from being increased.SOLUTION: The transmitter is configured to transmit large volume video data formed from a plurality of video signals each having a predetermined transmission rate by using at least one transmission line. The transmitter includes a generation unit for generating a multiplexed frame consisted of a data multiplex portion in which at least two or more of the plurality of video signals are multiplexed, and a header. The generation unit adjusts a length of the header in such a manner that a transmission rate of the multiplexed frame matches with a known transmission rate that is predetermined as a transmission rate per signal wave to be used in the one transmission line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
