Provided are an apparatus and a method for producing sulfuric acid. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for producing sulfuric acid comprises: a cooler which cools the temperature of flue gas including sulfur oxides (SOx); a dust collector which removes dust in the cooled flue gas; a purification unit which removes impurities and moisture in the flue gas with dust removed; a conversion unit which converts sulfur dioxide (SO_2) in the purified flue gas to sulfur trioxide (SO_3) by a catalyst; and an absorption unit which generates sulfuric acid (H_2SO_4) by having converted SO_3 absorbed in water. The method for producing sulfuric acid of the present invention removes dust contained in the flue gas with sulfur oxides (SOx) in advance and prevents a heat exchange tube from being blocked by dust, thereby increasing the production rate of sulfuric acid. |
