The present invention relates to a monitoring device for controlling a closed circuit television (CCTV) system, and a method therefor. The monitoring device for controlling the CCTV system having at least one camera device and a management server for managing the camera device, comprises: a communications unit for communicating with a management server; a motion sensor for sensing a motion of a monitoring device according to a motion input of a user; and a control unit for obtaining a control range for the camera device, calculating an input range in which the motion input of the user is possible according to a gripping posture of the user for the monitoring device, mapping the control range with the input range, and generating a control signal, when the motion input according to a motion of the monitoring device is received through the motion sensor, corresponding to the motion input according to the mapping of the input and control ranges so as to transmit the control signal to the management server through the communications unit. |
