The present invention relates to a method and a device to synchronize time in a car Ethernet communication network. A method to synchronize time at a node connected to an audio video bridging (AVB) Ethernet communication network according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a step of receiving a static announce message from an adjacent node and configure a static grand master table; a step of reselecting a grand master with reference to the static grand master table when a synchronization message timer is expired; and a step of updating the static grand master table in accordance with the reselection of the grand master. As such, the present invention is not only capable of rapidly obtaining time synchronization faster than in an AVB Ethernet communication network which uses the same time source and is but also capable of minimizing a network load.
