PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell for water vapor electrolysis which achieves a high Hgeneration rate and high current efficiency without increasing the voltage between cell terminals and enables efficient production of H.SOLUTION: A cell for water vapor electrolysis has an anode layer, a cathode layer and a proton conductive solid electrolyte layer between the anode and cathode layers. The anode layer contains a perovskite-type oxide, and a raw-material powder for the perovskite-type oxide is one having a BET specific surface area of 2.0 m/g or higher when baked under the same conditions as baking conditions for formation of the anode layer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
