PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce iron nitride powder preventing raw material particles from being sintered together, substantially including no coating layer, excellent in dispersibility as a magnetic material, and comprising single particles having a main phase of α"-FeN.SOLUTION: Iron nitride powder is produced by coating iron oxide particles with a sintering inhibitor, subjecting the coated iron oxide particles to reduction heat treatment and nitriding heat treatment, and then removing the sintering inhibitor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
