PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, capable of performing imbalance diagnosis to detect variations of air-fuel ratios among cylinders while suppressing the adhesion of deposits onto a fuel injection valve which injects fuel into an intake passage.SOLUTION: A control device 100 is applied to a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine which includes a first fuel injection valve 18 for injecting fuel into each cylinder 11, a second fuel injection valve 23 for injecting fuel into an intake passage 20, and an exhaust gas recirculation device 40 for recirculating part of exhaust gas flowing in an exhaust passage 30 into the intake passage 20. The control device 100 performs restricting processing for further restricting the recirculation of the exhaust gas into the intake passage 20 by the exhaust gas recirculation device 40 when performing imbalance diagnosis during an operation of the engine using fuel injection only from the first injection valve 18 than when performing the imbalance diagnosis during an operation of the engine involving the fuel injection from the second fuel injection valve 23.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
