The method involves checking whether a motor torque and a required braking torque are zero by an electronic control unit (E1). A determination is made by the electronic control unit to check whether bearing parameters e.g. acceleration, speed and a slope meet given activation conditions (E2) if the engine torque and the braking torque are zero. Windings are disconnected (E3) from a circuit if the parameters meet the activation conditions such that a rotor is freely driven in rotation by driving wheels, where the rotor transmits the motor torque to the wheels.
