According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed are an apparatus and a method for operating a soot blower. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for operating a soot blower of the present invention comprises: a soot blowing unit which comprises multiple soot blowers for performing a soot blowing operation for each of multiple heat transfer tube groups; and a control unit which obtains operation data of a plant and calculates the thermal resistance coefficient of each of the multiple heat transfer tube groups based on the operation data, sets multiple cases according to the soot blowing order for the multiple heat transfer tube groups, changes the thermal resistance coefficient according to the soot blowing order for the multiple heat transfer tube groups for each of the multiple cases, calculates the thermal performance of a plant based on the changed thermal resistance coefficient, selects one among the multiple cases as the optimum case based on the thermal performance, and controls the multiple soot blowers according to the optimum case. |
